AIGS Certificate Mini-Program

A WeChat mini-program that let any AIGS certificate holder verify their stone in two taps. The v1 of the certificate verification idea — and the gap that taught me what the v2 had to do.

01

The thesis

A QR code is the highest-intent moment in the industry. So make it a WeChat-native moment.

I ran WeChat Official Account + Xiaohongshu operations for AIGS — the Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences, one of the most established gem labs in Asia. The audience was already on WeChat. The certificate was already in their hand. The gap was: a WeChat-native way to verify.

I designed and shipped a WeChat mini-program. Scan the QR on any AIGS certificate, land directly inside WeChat, confirm authenticity in two taps. No app download, no browser hand-off, no friction between the moment of trust and the moment of confirmation.

02

The system

Three pieces, woven into a WeChat-native flow.

01

WeChat OA + Xiaohongshu

Acquisition surface

A coordinated content presence — WeChat OA for the long-form, Xiaohongshu for the visual. The mini-program sat at the intersection of both: a place the content could send a reader, and a reason to follow the accounts.

02

Mini-program verification

Confirmation in two taps

Scan → land inside WeChat → tap confirm → done. No login, no download, no redirect. The flow had to feel native, or it would be skipped. The design budget went into making the confirm tap feel like a moment, not a transaction.

03

Cross-channel copy + visual system

Tying the surface together

A copy and visual system that tied the official accounts to the mini-program's entry points. Same voice, same color, same commitment. A reader who landed in the mini-program from Xiaohongshu should not feel the seam.

03

The gap

A stamp, not a doorway.

This was the v1 of the certificate verification idea. It solved the basic problem — can a user verify a stone in WeChat? — and it stopped at the moment of confirmation. There was no interpretation layer. There was no conversion path. There was no analytics. It was a stamp, not a doorway.

The gap is exactly what the GUILD Certificate Intelligence Ecosystem, built later at GUILD, was designed to close. The mini-program taught me that a QR code is the highest-intent moment in the industry. The ecosystem taught me what to do with that moment.

A stamp confirms. A doorway continues. The work is to know which one you are building.
04

The outcome

The v1 that made the v2 possible.

The mini-program ran through the rest of AIGS's 2024. The v1 was stable, used, and the right shape for the question it answered. It also told me, plainly, the question it did not answer.

When I moved to GUILD in December 2024, the gap I had seen at AIGS was the first thing I wanted to close. The GUILD Certificate Intelligence Ecosystem is the v2 — same QR code, same 30-second window of trust and attention, but this time the moment continues, on both sides of the brand.
